Huge number of mobile handsets may face disconnection by December 1st, 2009, following a directive by the Department of Telecom (DOT), banning all handsets that do not carry the legitimate International Mobile Equipment Identify (IMEI) number according to Indian Cellular Association (ICA), the mobile industry apex body.
IMEI number was a 15-digit code that identifies a mobile and helps prevent use of stolen handsets for making calls by enabling security agencies to track down the specific user.

What’s new with Twitter @ Airtel?
Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. The service today in India works only on a web or a WAP site (basically needing the consumer to be internet ready). Finally Twitter will be available in India on SMS only on the Airtel network. There is exclusive period, in which only Airtel consumers will be able to use the service on SMS across the nation.

REVA NXR (NeXt Reva) has been launched in the 63rd Frankfurt International Motor Show. The new REVA is a lithium-ion powered electric car from REVA Electric Car Company which is scheduled to go into production early 2010. Also being unveiled for the first time is REVA’s showcar, the REVA NXG (NeXt Generation), which is the company’s 2011 model.
